Kamal Haasan, a veteran actor of South Indian cinema, has been in the news before the Tamil Nadu assembly elections due to his political party. In India Today Conclave South 2021, Kamal Haasan spoke openly about his acting and politics. He told that he hosted Bigg Boss Tamil because his party needed money.

Does MNM have shortage of funds?

During the conversation at the beginning of the session, Kamal Haasan said that he did four seasons of Bigg Boss Tamil so that he could raise money for his party. He said, “The reason behind making Big Boss was that I can finance my party. Makkal Needhi Maiam is short of money. Because my party only raises money through the right paths, so we have shortage of money.”

Kamal said that ideally, money should not matter in elections. This is our motive. Kamal Haasan has to struggle a lot to hire for TV and that is why I stepped into TV. Kamal Haasan further said that he will continue working in films and television.

The legacy of acting is beyond politics
The moderator of this session, Rajdeep Sardesai, asked Kamal Haasan if he lost his stardom, would he also lose in the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly election? In response to this, Kamal said, “My legacy about art is beyond politics. If I lose, it could be the end of a star, but not an artist.”
