Jaishankar Treated With Hit Bollywood Numbers At Israel’s Center For Persons With Disabilities

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his accompanying delegation got emotional when hit songs from films like ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ were sung to welcome him.
The special thing was that these songs were performed by Diana Samte, a blind Jewish girl of Indian origin. She belongs to the Banei Menashe community and was part of the Shalava band that welcomed Jaishankar. The eyes of Jaishankar and the members of the Indian team present with him trickled down upon hearing the bhavbhi song.
Israel’s alternate Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid hosted a lunch in honor of Jaishankar at the Shalawa Centre. This center provides tools to the disabled people of Israel, so that they can be included in the society. Here everyone is provided equal facilities irrespective of religion, caste, financial status.
Diana Samte came to Israel from Manipur in 2007. A few years ago he was given the unprecedented honor of lighting the lamp at the main official program on the occasion of Israel’s Independence Day.

Bhoodan Grove plaque unveiled
Jaishankar, who arrived on a five-day visit to Israel, visited ‘Bhoodan Grove’ in Jerusalem Forest on Monday? The plaque was also unveiled. In keeping with Mahatma Gandhi’s concept of village as the basic unit for development, the External Affairs Minister visited several places in Israel to find ways to implement the socialist ideas of Sarvodaya Abhiyan like ‘Bhudan and Gramdan’. The leader of Sarvodaya Abhiyan in India, Jayaprakash Narayan, made a nine-day visit to Israel in September 1958. After his visit, the 27-member Sarvodaya Dal came here to study for a six-month tour. Before returning to India, this team planted saplings for the ‘Bhudan Grove’ in the ‘Jerusalem Forest’ on 22 May 1960.
