This time Goa will have many new attractions at the 52nd International Film Festival (IFFI) to be held on the occasion of 75 years of independence. This time the central government has also decided to include the OTT platform, which has created a new world of information and entertainment in the country and the world during the Kovid period. In view of this, an invitation has been sent by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to five important OTT platforms. On the other hand, 75 budding talents associated with the film and entertainment industry will be invited to the festival on the occasion of 75 years to introduce them to veteran filmmakers and celebrities and explain the nuances of film making. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur shared all such information related to the festival. Thakur said that such diversity of film making would make India a subcontinent in terms of content. Which will be directly related to employment generation. Employment opportunities will increase in the country.
Anurag Thakur told that this time the two legendary filmmakers of the world who will be honored with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award, The King of Comedy, The Aviator and Shutter Island fame American film director and film patron. Martin Scorsese and Budapest Tales and Father fame Hungarian filmmaker Istvan Szabo. For the first time, BRICS Film Festival will be organized in Goa along with IFFI, in which films made in the countries of BRICS countries Brazil, China, India, Russia and South Africa will be presented.
On this occasion, the Ministry has also taken an initiative named ’75 Creative Talents of the Future’. In which it has been decided to identify 75 budding talents associated with film making and give them a chance to interact with the world’s leading filmmakers and learn something. These youth will be identified through a competition for which online applications are open. A jury will select 75 talents from the incoming application. Whom the government will give a chance to participate in the festival.
At the same time, the government also gave a chance to OTT platforms like Nestflix, Amazon Prime, Sony Liv, Voot and Zee5. During this, all these platforms will show their films and programs. In the ‘Masterclass’ category, there will be premiere, content launch, preview, film package screening of his films and series. Nestflix is also going to organize a three-day virtual masterclass here by Gobelins-School l’Image, a well-known institute of film making in Paris. While Nestflix is going to premiere Jane Campion’s ‘The Power of the Dog’, the film ‘Dhamaka’ and the first episode of crime series ‘Aarayak’ starring Ashutosh Rana and Raveena Tandon will be launched here.
Significantly, 624 entries from 96 countries were received for participation in the World Panorama section in this festival, out of which 30 films have been shortlisted. Whereas last year these 69 countries had sent their entries. The opening film of the festival will be ‘The King of All the World’ by Carles Saura.
